OpenAI's ChatGPT now available hands-free via CarPlay with iOS 26.4

Apple CarPlay users will now be able to communicate with ChatGPT on-the-go, using only their voice. An app update and iOS 26.4 are required.ChatGPT can now be used via Apple CarPlay on iOS 26.4 or later.With the release of the iOS 26.4 update on March 24, Apple introduced support for AI agents within CarPlay. To be more specific, the iPhone maker released a new CarPlay entitlement category for voice-driven conversational apps.The move effectively enabled third-party AI to function within CarPlay, reducing users' reliance on Siri. OpenAI's ChatGPT has now become one of the first AI-related applications to take advantage of the new CarPlay entitlement, which is only delivered with Apple's approval.
